9 Symbols of the Holy Spirit

Nine Emblems or Symbols of the Holy SpiritHe is:

1. The Dove—pure and gentle; He is peace—Matt. 3:16–17; 10:16; Jn. 1:32
He represents peace, purity and harmlessness (Matt. 10:16). The dove also signifies devotion - Doves totally love their mates just as Christ loves the Church.

2. Water—our cleansing stream, our water of life—Ps. 87:7; Jn. 7:37–39. Water is vital for life, and it is a most plentiful substance all over the world. Water cleanses and refreshes just like the Holy Spirit who daily cleanses and refreshes us.

3. Oil—He is the light who brings healing, power, truth and anointing. The oil also speaks of God’s approval—Lk. 4:18; Jn. 8:12; Acts 10:38; Heb. 1:9

4. The Seal—our indication that we are purchased and owned by the Lord (2 Tim. 2:19). The seal also declares our security, value and authority in God—Jn. 6:37; 2 Cor. 1:21–22; Eph. 1:13; 4:30. The seal ratifies, guarantees and confirms

5. Windan unseen power. Wind cleanses—Jn. 3:8; Acts 2:1–2. He is both, the breath (Gen.2:7; Ez. 37:9; Jn. 3:8) and the wind of God. Strength - Acts 2:2; Zech 4:6 (not by might, nor power, but by the Spirit.) Also, wind is independent of man and unable to be controlled just as the Holy Spirit cannot be controlled or manipulated.

6. Fire—indicating His continuous presence. He purifies, protects, illuminates, tests and judges—Ex. 13:21; Acts 2:3; Heb. 12:29. In Matt. 3:11 John the Baptist said that Jesus would baptize us with the Holy Spirit and with fire.

7. Rain—This speaks of refreshing, abundance and revival—Ps. 72:6; Hosea 6:3

8. River—Abundance and prosperity. Rivers are a source of water that sustains life abundantly—John 7:38; Ps. 1:3

9. The Dew—favor, grace and refreshing—Ps. 110:3; Prov. 19:12; Hos. 6:4; 14:5
