The Promises of God

As humans, we are unable to keep every promise we make. We might try hard, but sometimes we forget, we are negligent, there might be circumstances beyond our control or we might change our mind and decide to go in a different direction.

The Lord, however, is famous for His promises – Here are some biblical statements about God’s promises. Take heart and hold on to what He has promised you – no matter what you might be going through.

• God is not a man who lies—He will do what He has promised; He will never change His mind: Num. 23:19; Rom. 4:21; Heb. 6:18

• God will not break His promises or anything that has gone out of His lips: Ps. 89:34

• God is faithful to all His promises: Heb. 10:23

• God is not slack (or slow) concerning His promises: 2Pet. 3:9

• God has never failed in any of His promises: Josh. 21:45

• God keeps His promises even when we are unfaithful: 1Ki. 8:56

• God keeps His promises for a thousand generations: Deut. 7:9; Ps. 105:8

• God will bring all His promises to pass: Is. 46:11

• God’s promises to us were established before the world began: Titus 1:2

• God’s promises have been thoroughly tested: Ps. 119:140

• God’s promises preserve our lives: Ps. 119:147-150

• God’s promises last forever: 1Chr. 17:23

• God’s promises are fulfilled in and through Jesus: 2Cor. 1:20

• God has sealed us with the Holy Spirit of promise—our guarantee that He will do what He has promised: Eph. 1:13-14
