But God

I have been reading and praying Psalm 73:25-26 today:

Whom have I in heaven but You?
And there is none upon earth that I desire besides You.
My flesh and my heart fail;
But God is the strength of my heart
and my portion forever.

Like many before me, I am fascinated by the phrase “But God…” I just wanted to list some of these wonderful statements – things that show God’s greatness in the midst of overwhelming and difficult circumstances. Whenever you feel overwhelmed, just remember these verses that shout out above our problems, "But God!!" Read this list and enjoy God’s wonders:
• The Lord overcomes the deceptions of men – Gen. 31:7 Yet your father has deceived me and changed my wages ten times, but God did not allow him to hurt me.
• The Lord overcomes the evil intentions of men – Gen. 50:20 But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive.
• The Lord is able to hide and protect us – 1Sam. 23:14 And David stayed in strongholds in the wilderness, and remained in the mountains in the Wilderness of Ziph. Saul sought him every day, but God did not deliver him into his hand.
• The Lord fights battles on our behalf – 2Chron. 20:15 Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God’s.
• The Lord is able to save us from the power of death – Ps. 49:15 But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave, For He shall receive me. Selah
• The Lord gives us strength to carry on – even when we have no strength and feel like giving up – Ps. 73:26 My flesh and my heart fail; But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.
• The Lord is a righteous Judge – even in the face of proud and wicked men – Ps. 75:7 But God is the Judge: He puts down one, And exalts another.

• The Lord is our rock and refuge in the face of great trouble – Ps. 94:21-22 They gather together against the life of the righteous,
And condemn innocent blood.
But the Lord has been my defense,
 And my God the rock of my refuge.

• The Lord is King over all nations and is able to put them in their place – Is. 17:13 The nations will rush like the rushing of many waters; But God will rebuke them and they will flee far away, And be chased like the chaff of the mountains before the wind, Like a rolling thing before the whirlwind.

• The Lord has proven over and over again that nothing is impossible for Him – Matt. 19:26 But Jesus looked at them and said to them, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”all things are possible.”

• The Lord is the only one who can forgive sin – Mk. 2:7 “Why does this Man speak blasphemies like this? Who can forgive sins but God alone?”

• The Lord knows the hearts of all men – Lk. 16:15 And He said to them, “You are those who justify yourselves before men, but God knows your hearts.

• The Lord is with His people through every desperate situation – Acts 7:9 “And the patriarchs, becoming envious, sold Joseph into Egypt. But God was with him

• The Lord has all power over the grave – Acts 13:30 But God raised Him from the dead.

• The Lord has shown us the ultimate expression of love – He died for us even when we were all unworthy – Rom. 5:8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

• The Lord has chosen to put the world’s wisdom and strength to shame with things that are foolish and weak – 1Cor. 1:27 But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty;

• The Lord is able to reveal His plans and mysteries to each one of us – 1Cor. 2:10 But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.

• The Lord is the one who completes His work in the earth – it is His harvest – 1Cor. 3:-7 I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase.
 So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase.

• The Lord is faithful to stand with us through temptation and give us power to bear and overcome it – 1Cor. 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.

• The Lord is rich in mercy and love for every one of us – Eph. 2:4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us

• The Lord extends His mercy and healing to all of us – Phil. 2:27 For indeed he was sick almost unto death; but God had mercy on him, and not only on him but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow.
