The First Watchman

Genesis 2:15
Then the Lord God took the man and put him in the
garden of Eden to tend and keep it.

The Hebrew word for "keep" in this instance is "shamar" which is the word for WATCHMAN. It also means to guard, protect or watch over.

Adam was the first watchman or prayer warrior over the earth!

This is the first use of this Hebrew word in the Bible.

Here are seven of the places in the Psalms where we see the Lord as a WATCHMAN over His people:

Ps. 12:7 You shall keep them, O Lord, You shall preserve them from this generation forever.
Ps. 16:1 Preserve me, O God, for in You I put my trust.
Ps. 17:8 Keep me as the apple of Your eye; Hide me under the shadow of Your wings.
Ps. 91:11 For He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways.
Ps. 121:4-5 Behold, He who keeps Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.
The Lord is your keeper; the Lord is your shade at your right hand.
Ps. 127:1 Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it; Unless the Lord guards the city, the watchman stays awake in vain
Ps. 145:20 The Lord preserves all who love Him, but all the wicked He will destroy
