In my last
post, I was talking about God’s omnipresence, now we are looking at God’s
manifest presence
Even
though God is everywhere (omnipresence), that doesn't mean that He makes
himself known everywhere in the exact same way. These moments of God revealing
Himself are His manifest presence.
He shows His ways or His character to us. Sometimes there is a real dynamic
sense of His presence and sometimes His declaration of Himself is like a
whisper.
Some Bible
scholars don’t believe that the Lord manifests His presence today. I disagree –
God is not only an omnipresent God, He is a manifesting God.
Jesus said, "The glory that you have given me I
have given to them..." (John 17:22). Take note that He didn't say "The glory that you have given me I will give to them", but rather, "The glory that you have given me I have given to them." He has
given us His glory, and He desires that His glory would be seen:
John 17:24 Father, I desire that they also whom You gave Me may
be with Me where I am, that they may behold My glory which You have given Me;
for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.
The greatest
manifesting of God’s glory and presence in in the person of Jesus. The more we
draw near to Him, the more we will see his manifesting. Not only does He show
Himself to us, but He desires to be revealed through us to all the
world. The more we realize that his manifest presence lives in us, the more his
presence will be manifested through us.
Ps. 68:24 They have seen Your procession (goings), O God,
The procession of my God, my King, into the sanctuary.
In many
translations, the word "goings" is closer to the Hebrew meaning - halikah
- a company in procession. A
common translation, here, is "Your procession has come into view, O God,
the procession of my God and King into the sanctuary." Just think – there might
be a precession of God in your sanctuary this Sunday!!
John
14:21 “He who has My commandments and keeps them,
it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to
him.”
When we
see God’s glory, He then manifests Himself in and through us - our lives are a
triumphal procession. We are those who reveal His glory in all the earth:
"...but thanks be to God, who
always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and through us spreads
everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of Him." 2 Cor. 3:14 (NIV. See also 2 Cor.
4:11)
Those who see, and reveal his glory are the nation-chagers
Hosea 6:3 Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the LORD: his going forth is prepared as the morning (as surely as the sun rises); and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth.
Those who see, and reveal His glory receive showers of blessing
Those who see, and reveal His glory worship with all their heart
Those who see, and reveal His glory minister with a powerful anointing
