The Characteristics of God's Voice - 2


Following on from yesterday

When we hear His voice we will follow Him. Notice how important His voice is for those of us who are followers of Christ.

You know you are hearing the voice of God when you hear these things:

•   He gives instruction in righteousness, (2 Tim. 3:16)

•   He gives correction in righteousness, (2 Tim. 3:16; Prov. 3:11-12)

•   He causes you to profit in Christ, (2 Tim. 3:16; Jn. 15:16)

•   He causes us to believe in Him (Jn. 4:41)
•   He brings to your remembrance the Word of God, (Jn. 14:26)

•   He guides you into Truth, (Jn. 16:13; 18:37)

•   He exhorts you, (Jude 3; Rom. 12:1)

•   He comforts you, (Jn. 14:16; Ps. 23:4)

•   He rebukes and reproves you, (Titus 1:13; 2 Tim. 4:2) 

•   He brings conviction and a call for change in our lives (Mk. 10:22; Rom 6:1-23; 1Thess. 2:13)
•   He leads you to salvation/eternal life, (Jn. 5:24; 8:51; Rom. 10:9-10; 1Pet. 1:23; 2 Tim. 3:15)

•   He assures you of the Father's love and approval, (Matt. 3:17; 1 Jn. 3:1; Jer. 31:3; 2Pet. 1:17)

•   He admonishes and warns you, (Eph. 6:4; Acts 21:4,10-14)

•   He edifies you, (Eph. 4:12)

•   He increases your faith, (Rom. 10:17)

•   He causes you to triumph in life through Christ, (2 Cor. 2:14)
•   He fills us with good fruit (Matt. 13:23; Lu. 8:15)
•   He accompanies His word with signs and miracles (Mk. 16:20; Lu. 5:5; 7:7; Acts 14:3)
•   He births the supernatural inside us (Lu. 1:38)
•   He gives us authority over Satan, demons and all people (Lu. 4:4, 32, 36)
•   He calls us His brothers/family/disciples (Lu. 8:21; Jn. 8:31)
•   He reveals everything in our hearts and lives through His words (Jn. 4:39)
•   He heals us with His voice (Jn. 4:41)
•   He speaks even to the dead and they can live (Jn. 5:25, 28; 11:43)
•   He has a voice that we can know and follow; He calls us by name (Jn. 10:3-5, 14-16, 27-30)
•   He tells us that He dwells/abides in us (Jn. 14:23)
•   He brings to our remembrance the Word of God, (Jn. 14:26; Acts 11:15)
•   He teaches us (Jn. 14:16)

•   He cleanses us (Jn. 15:3)
•   He causes us to be successful in prayer, (Jn. 15:16)

•   He sanctifies us (Jn. 17:17)
•   He calls us to bless the nations (Acts 8:14)
•   He asks questions (Acts 9:4; 22:7; 26:14)
•   He gives detailed direction (Acts 10:13-15)
•   He speaks promises to us that come to pass (Rom. 9:9)
•   He inspires and increases our faith, (Rom. 10:17)

•   He speaks supernatural wisdom and knowledge (1Cor. 12:8)
•   He gives us power in battle with His word (Eph. 6:17)
•   He comes with power in His word and voice (1Thess. 1:5)
•   He sounds His voice in us until it resounds out from us to all people (1Thess. 1:8)
•   He speaks a living and powerful word that pierces every thought and intent of our hearts (Heb. 4:12)
•   He created all things with the words of His voice (Heb. 11:3)
•   He has a voice like a trumpet – awesome and overwhelming (Heb. 12:19)
•   He shakes heaven and earth with His voice (Heb. 12:26)
•   He perfects His love in us and assures us that we live in Him (1Jn. 2:5)
•   He assures you of the Father's love toward you, (1 Jn. 3:1; Jer. 31:3)

•   He knocks on our hearts with His voice and comes in to commune with us (Rev. 3:20
