Unforced Rhythms Of Grace

I so love this interpretation of Matt. 11:28-30 from the Message Bible. The call to the unforced rhythms of grace is just what I need during these days:

Matt. 11:28-30 (The Message)
“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”

This is the only time Eugene Peterson talks about being "burned out" on anything. I think burnout is so prevalent these days - there are more Christians sitting at home on Sundays than in Church services. So many of our brothers and sisters are burned out on religion - the rules and restrictions of our faith. If only we could all come to Jesus - to His unforced rhythms of grace.

This is such a delightful place to rest during difficult days - but I think this is more than a resting place - it must surely be where we camp as we turn the rythmns of grace into a lifestyle.

This is my prayer for all readers today - 3 things to bless your life this week:

2Cor. 13:14
The amazing grace of the Master, Jesus Christ,
the extravagant love of God,
the intimate friendship of the Holy Spirit, be with all of you.
