On Being A Sheep

John 10:27
My sheep hear My voice,
and I know them, 
and they follow Me.

In these days, I feel like this little sheep (look at those ears!) - listening for the voice of the Good Shepherd

Of course - there are three things happening here -

1. We have to hear His voice - we can only hear when we listen
2. We are known by the Shepherd - we can only be known when we give ourselves to Him
3. We must follow Him - We can only follow Him to the extent that we obey Him

Is. 40:11

He will feed His flock like a shepherd;

He will gather the lambs with His arm,

And carry them in His bosom,

And gently lead those who are with young.

A Little Break

Still missing my Colombian friends. I am  not really home yet - I have to drive about 10 hours tomorrow. So...I am posting a couple of funny things, and will then try to get an early night.

Here is a bunch of sheep in New Zealand - it is so funny because they appear to be at a political protest of some sort - they all answer the farmer's voice as he asks them questions...these sheep are adorable:

New Zealand has around 4 million people and about 40 million sheep. This gives NZ the distinction of having the highest sheep population per capita. I grew up around sheep and I have seen them get "talkative," but not quite as funny as these guys!

This next video is equally as hilarious - I don't know where it is from, except that it is an Asian nation. This dog does not want a bath - he pretends to be dead and then at crucial moments he makes his escape...very cute:

The poor dog is just like our wee Maltipo - Spencer - he is afraid of taking a bath and goes looking for someone to save him from the dreadful fate whenever the discussion of a bath comes up.

God Still Talks

I hope and pray that we all heard the voice of God in our services today. It is important to understand that the Lord has something to say in every service. He still speaks into our hearts and through us to the world. Make way for Him and linger in His presence.

Just like the Psalmist, we long for the Lord to hear our voice (Ps. 5:2; 130:2), but we need to understand that He longs even more for us to hear His voice (Rev. 3:20; John 10:27.)

God wants to talk to His people. When you read the Word, you can see that He is a very “talkative” God. He:

—   Creates with His voice (Gen. 1:3–26; Ps. 29:4–9; 33:6)

—   Spoke face to face with Moses (Ex. 33:11)

—   Speaks in fire (Deut. 4:12)

—   Thunders with His voice (Job 37:2, 4–5)

—   Shouts and cries out loudly (Ps. 47:5; Is. 42:13)

—   Has a voice like many waters (Ez. 1:24; 43:2)

—   Has a voice that sounds like the wings of the cherubim (Ez. 10:5)

—   Roars with His voice through His people (Joel 3:16; Amos 1:2)

—   Sings and rejoices over us (Zeph. 3:17)

—   Spoke audibly to Jesus and all who were with Him (Matt. 3:17; 17:5)

—   Spoke audibly to Saul of Tarsus (Acts 9:5, 7; 22:8)

—   Spoke audibly to Peter (Acts 10:15)

—   Spoke audibly to John (Rev. 1:10)

—   Shakes the earth with His voice (Heb. 12:26)
