Five Books Where God Writes Your Name

I am writing this especially for my dear friends - the Skjekkeland family - good friends are one of our greatest treasures.

There are five books that God writes in concerning your life and eternal destiny -

"And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened; and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works."  Revelation 20:12

A fiery stream issued
And came forth from before Him.
A thousand thousands ministered to Him;
Ten thousand times ten thousand stood before Him.
The court was seated,
And the books were opened. Dan. 7:10

When we stand before God on the Day of Judgment, we are going to be judged out of five books that have been, and are still being written about our lives. Some people believe that the only book by which we are to be judged is the Lamb’s book of life, but in the passages in Revelation and Daniel, we see that there is reference to "books" (plural). Every aspect of our lives and relationship with the Lord have been recorded in these books. We must, therefore assume that each of these books is very important to the Lord. Only God is able to be completely fair and just in judgment. He is able to be righteous in judgment because He knows every detail of our lives, including our thoughts, our potential, our destiny, our virtues, our victories and defeats etc. These five books encompass every detail of our lives. They include every minute uniqueness, every hidden and unseen characteristic, and every special feature and attribute within us.

Here are the five books that God records about us – note that the number five speaks of grace. God’s judgments are founded in grace:

1.         THE LAMB'S BOOK OF LIFE
            Ps. 69:28; Phil. 4:3; Rev. 3:5; Rev. 3:5; 13:8; 20:12-15

"And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire."  Rev. 20:15

Our names are written in this book when we accept Jesus Christ as our savior. In Revelation 20:12 it appears that this book is separate or distinct from the other books. This is possibly because it is the most important of all the books. Our entrance into eternal life depends on the fact that our names are written in this book.

2.         THE BOOK OF MY SUBSTANCE/DAYS/DESTINY
            Ps. 139:15-16

"My frame (substance - KJV) was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be."  Ps. 139:15-16 (NIV) (Also see Amplified)

"Substance"  Hebrew otsem  (Strongs # 6108 from #6105)  body, power, bone, life (DNA)

Every part of our spiritual, physical, and emotional make-up, and every day that we have and will live, is written in this book. God's expectations of us are based on the reality of the distinctive abilities and handicaps that every individual experiences. He does not expect us to have competence in areas that he has not gifted us in. He knows exactly how much we should accomplish at every single endeavor. This truth is liberating!!  We do not have to be like any other person. He never compares us to others, or measures our accomplishments against another person. We are measured according to His plan for our lives, and the distinct gifts and callings He has placed within us. He has made each of us as a unique individual. These truths must become a revelation to us. We need more than an intellectual understanding of these words – we need to know this deep in our hearts that He has designed us with a specific plan in mind, and that His love for us is unconditional and eternal.

Because this book contains every detail of our DNA structure, and every moment of our lives, it is possible that there are thousands of volumes of this written material. God has a library of information on every person who has lived, or will ever live. "I will praise Thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are Thy works...” Ps. 139:14.
