10 Things - Those Who Are Blessed

The first words in the Book of Psalms are, “Blessed is the man…” I wanted to look at all those who are blessed in this book – here are 10 categories of people God blesses:

• The Lord blesses those who turn from unrighteousness, delight in Him and follow His ways - Ps. 1:1 Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;

• The Lord blesses those who have been forgiven and cleared of their sins. The Lord not only forgives us and clears us from the weight of sin – He then goes on to bless us as well!! - Ps. 32:1 A Psalm of David. A Contemplation. Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, Whose sin is covered.

• The Lord blesses those who are cleared of the guilt of sin and who live honestly from the inside out - Ps. 32:2 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord does not impute iniquity, And in whose spirit there is no deceit.

• The Lord blesses those who trust, and take refuge in Him - Ps. 34:8 Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him! Also: Ps. 40:4; 84:12

• The Lord blesses those who are kind to the poor – He even rescues them when they are in trouble - Ps. 41:1 To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David. Blessed is he who considers the poor; The Lord will deliver him in time of trouble.

• The Lord blesses those whom He chooses to draw near and live in His presence -  Ps. 65:4 Blessed is the man You choose, And cause to approach You, That he may dwell in Your courts. We shall be satisfied with the goodness of Your house, Of Your holy temple. Also: Ps. 22:12

• The Lord blesses those who find the source of their strength in Him – who set their hearts on a journey towards His presence - Ps. 84:5 Blessed is the man whose strength is in You, Whose heart is set on pilgrimage.

• The Lord blesses those who are open to His instruction – He gives them relief from times of trouble - Ps. 94:12 Blessed is the man whom You instruct, O Lord, And teach out of Your law,

• The Lord blesses those who walk in the fear of the Lord and delight in His commands – Their children will be successful everywhere they go, and the Lord will prosper their whole household - Ps. 112:1-3 Praise the Lord! Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, Who delights greatly in His commandments. His descendants will be mighty on earth;
The generation of the upright will be blessed.

Wealth and riches will be in his house,
And his righteousness endures forever.

Also: Ps. 128:1 Blessed is every one who fears the Lord, Who walks in His ways.

• The Lord blesses all who go out in His name - Ps. 118:26 Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! We have blessed you from the house of the Lord.
