Just like the Psalmist,
we long for the Lord to hear our voice
(Ps. 5:2; 130:2), but we need to understand that He longs even more for us to hear His voice (Rev. 3:20; John 10:27.)
God wants to talk to His
people. When you read the Word, you can see that He is a very “talkative” God.
He:
—
Creates with His voice (Gen. 1:3–26; Ps. 29:4–9; 33:6)
—
Spoke face to face with Moses (Ex. 33:11)
—
Speaks in fire (Deut. 4:12)
—
Thunders with His voice (Job 37:2, 4–5)
—
Shouts and cries out loudly (Ps. 47:5; Is. 42:13)
—
Has a voice like many waters (Ez. 1:24; 43:2)
—
Has a voice that sounds like the wings of the cherubim (Ez. 10:5)
—
Roars with His voice through His people (Joel 3:16; Amos 1:2)
—
Sings and rejoices over us (Zeph. 3:17)
—
Spoke audibly to Jesus and all who were with Him (Matt. 3:17;
17:5)
—
Spoke audibly to Saul of Tarsus (Acts 9:5, 7; 22:8)
—
Spoke audibly to Peter (Acts 10:15)
—
Spoke audibly to John (Rev. 1:10)
—
Shakes the earth with His voice (Heb. 12:26)
My sheep hear My voice, and I know them,
and they follow Me.
and they follow Me.
John 10:27
