God never ceases to amaze me -
If you know much about God
and nature, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that it’s not an essentially meaningless
instinctual thing, but it’s something people have wondered about for thousands
of years.
The first proposed explanation
of beehives, for example, came from Pappus of Alexandria in the third century.
Pappus explained that
only three forms could realistically be used in bee hive construction:
triangles, squares, and hexagons. Pappus noted that hexagons could contain more
honey in the same space as a square or triangle. Also, less material was
required to build hexagons than squares or triangles. With squares and
triangles, there would be extra spaces between the cells that would be
basically wasted.
Another
amazing thing about the honey bee is the cooperation between them in building
the bee hive. Bees start building from different points.
Hundreds
of bees build the hive from three to four different starting points and then proceed
without any mistakes until they meet in the middle.
Bees
also calculate the angle between the cavity of each other while building. Each
shape is formed with thirteen degrees of tilt plane. Therefore both sides of
the cavity is tilted upward, so that the honey contained inside does not flow
out or spill.
It
was only after the development of modern calculus, that scientists were able to
fully appreciate the shape of the cap at the end of the honeycomb cells. It has taken all this time to learn a secret that our Father placed in the heart of bees since the beginning of time.
Deut. 32:3-2
For I proclaim the name of the Lord;
Ascribe greatness to our God,
He is the Rock, His work is perfect;
For all His ways are justice,
A God of truth and without injustice;
Righteous and upright is He.
