Better Than...

Here are a list of Scriptures that describe something that is better than something else. We could learn so much if we studied these things and set about running after all the better things - all of these are better than something:

Obedience – 1Sam. 15:22 So Samuel said: “Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, As in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, And to heed than the fat of rams.

Honest money – Ps. 37:16 A little that a righteous man has Is better than the riches of many wicked.

God’s lovingkindness – Ps. 63:3 Because Your lovingkindness is better than life, My lips shall praise You.

Praise – Ps. 69:30-31 I will praise the name of God with a song,
And will magnify Him with thanksgiving.

This also shall please the Lord better than an ox or bull,
Which has horns and hooves.

A day in God’s presence – Ps. 84:10 For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God Than dwell in the tents of wickedness.

Wisdom – Prov. 3:13-15 Happy is the man who finds wisdom,
And the man who gains understanding;

For her proceeds are the profits of silver,
And her gain than fine gold.

She is more precious than rubies,
And all the things you may desire cannot compare with her.

Prov. 8:11 For wisdom is better than rubies, And all the things one may desire cannot be compared with her.

Prov. 8:19 My fruit is better than gold, yes, than fine gold,
And my revenue than choice silver. Eccl. 9:16, 18

Patience and self control – Prov. 16:32 He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, And he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city.

Honor – Prov. 19:22 What is desired in a man is kindness, And a poor man is better than a liar.

Honesty – Prov. 27:5 Open rebuke is better Than love carefully concealed.

Friendship – Eccl. 4:9 [ The Value of a Friend ] Two are better than one, Because they have a good reward for their labor.

Contentment – Eccl. 6:3 If a man begets a hundred children and lives many years, so that the days of his years are many, but his soul is not satisfied with goodness, or indeed he has no burial, I say that a stillborn child is better than he—

Integrity – Eccl. 7:1 A good reputation is a fat bank account.
Your death date tells more than your birth date. (Message)

Purifying process – Eccl. 7:3 Sorrow is better than laughter, for sadness has a refining influence on us. (NLT)

Accomplishment – Eccl. 7:8 Finishing is Better than starting. Patience is better than pride. (NLT)

God’s love – Song 1:2 [ The Shulamite ] Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth— For your love is better than wine. Song 4:10

The name God gives us – Is. 56:5 Even to them I will give in My house
And within My walls a place and a name
Better than that of sons and daughters;
I will give them an everlasting name
That shall not be cut off.

Godly Nobility – Dan. 1:20 And in all matters of wisdom and understanding about which the king examined them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and astrologers who were in all his realm.

Respect – Phil. 2:3 Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself.

Jesus – Heb. 1:4 having become so much better than the angels, as He has by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.
