Song of Deliverance 4

The Song in the Night

Job 35:10 But no one says, ‘Where is God my Maker, Who gives songs in the night,

Ps 42:8 The LORD will command His lovingkindness in the daytime, And in the night His song shall be with me-- A prayer to the God of my life.

Ps 77:6 I call to remembrance my song in the night; I meditate within my heart, And my spirit makes diligent search.
Asaph begins this Psalm by looking at his own troubles – he finishes by remembering what the Lord has done. He turns his troubles into a song.

Every prophetic singer needs to be able to hear the voice of the Lord even in his or her darkest times. The song we learn in the night may become a song of comfort and light for others who sit in darkness.

Somehow our troubles seem bigger as we lay awake in the night. We lack perspective and fear and doubt can grip our hearts with ease.

Anyone can sing in the daytime – when all seems to go well, but in the darkest hours, we need to grow in faith and rise up to sing of our faithful Father who gives us His song.
