2 Chronicles 7:14
if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves,
and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways,
then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
Our hearts are growing increasingly burdened for Norway - that the Lord will bring His fire for repentance. Not a repentance that is morose, but a repentance that brings a Godly sorrow that leads to joy.
The
enemy can lie to us and cause us to be crippled by our sins and inadequacies,
but God has made a way for His love and grace to triumph over sin. I love this
passage in Corinthians that outlines the seven results of true repentance:
2 Cor. 7:9 Now
I rejoice, not that you were made sorry, but that your sorrow led to repentance.
For you were made sorry in a godly manner, that you might suffer loss from us
in nothing.
10 For godly
sorrow produces repentance
leading to salvation, not to be
regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death.
11 For observe this very thing, that you
sorrowed in a godly manner: What diligence it produced in you, what clearing of
yourselves, what indignation, what fear, what vehement desire, what zeal, what
vindication! In all things you proved yourselves to be clear in this matter. (NKJV) You have completely wiped away
reproach from yourselves in the matter. (WEY)
Godly
Sorrow.................(leads to)............... Repentance.........(leads to)......... Salvation
Repentance Produces 7 things:
• Diligence (care; earnestness [NASB])
• Clearing of yourselves
• Indignation (wrath against sin [BBE])
• Fear (of God)
• Vehement desire (longing [NASB]; longing to see God [NLT])
• Zeal (Serious purpose [BBE])
• Vindication (avenging of wrong [NASB]; readiness to see justice
done [NIV])
You can tell if someone has truly repented by looking at these
seven results. Do we walk more carefully; act as one clear of wrong; angry at
sin; growing in the fear of God; longing for more of God; filled with zeal for
God’s kingdom; ready to join the fight for justice in the lives of the abused,
and against evil doers?
Holiness
is glory internal;
glory is
holiness shining forth outwardly.
