Trust, Faith and Hope - Part 2

Today I am looking at how faith and hope work together, and then how trust, faith and hope work in our hearts:

Hope is like a road in the country – where there never was a road. With continued hope, the road comes into existence

Once we choose hope, anything is possible

Faith and Hope:

Faith looks to the Word – the truth
Hope looks to the promises from the Word

Faith fights error
Hope fights trouble

Faith rises from the spirit
Hope rises from the will/heart

Faith is the fuel that drives us to our hope
Hope is endurance that steers us in our faith

3 Examples:

Here are Trust Faith and Hope working together:

Daniel 3:17-18 If this be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of your hand, O king.
But if not, be it known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up."

By faith in God, they said: “…our God whom we serve is able…”
With hope in God they said “…he will deliver us out of your hand, O king.”
As they had trust in God they said “…we will not serve your god or worship the golden image…” – they trusted that God would bring them through and that they would be worshiping their God again.

Even though others had died in this furnace, these three boys knew that God was able to deliver them (faith). They had hope that He would do it, but no matter what the outcome, they trusted the Lord and counted Him worthy of praise

3 Scriptures:

• Trust comes from relying on God - Is. 50:10 "Who among you fears the Lord? Who obeys the voice of His Servant? Who walks in darkness And has no light? Let him trust in the name of the Lord And rely upon his God.

• Faith comes from believing in God - Heb. 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

• Hope comes from expecting from God - Ps. 25:3 No one whose hope is in you will ever be put to shame (NIV)

3 Pictures:

• When you throw a small child in the air, he laughs because he knows you will catch him - THATS TRUST.

• An entire village were desperate for water and they decided to pray for rain, on the day of prayer everyone gathered but only one boy came with an umbrella - THATS FAITH.

•  Every night we go to bed, we have no assurance to wake up alive the next morning but still we have plans for tomorrow - THATS HOPE
