Our most wonderful Lord is clothed in royal garments. Several Scriptures give us a picture of what this clothing might look like:
Here is a halo of light around a star in the Milky Way:
...and the train of His robe filled the temple - Is. 6:1
He holds the wind in His fist - Psalm 62:11 states that ...power belongs to God
Here are two ideas of what the helmet of salvation might look like:
God's zeal is for the nations - I love this painting by Thomas Blackshear:
1. He
is clothed with majesty and honor
Ps.
104:1
Bless the Lord, O my soul!
O Lord my God,
You are very great: You are
clothed with
honor and majesty. (Ps. 93:1)
This is a good place to start as we try to imagine our King's royal robes.
This is King Edward vii (son of Queen Victoria). These are earthly royal robes -
how much more spectacular must be the robes of our King:
2. He
is clothed with light
Ps.
104:2
You are dressed in a robe
of light.
You stretch out the starry
curtain of the heavens.
3. He
is clothed with power and strength
Ps.
65:6 (Ps. 93:1)
Who established the
mountains by His strength,
Being clothed with power.
4. He
is clothed with righteousness
Is.
59:17
For He put on righteousness as a breastplate…
5. He
is clothed with justice
Is.
59:17
…He put on the garments of vengeance (justice) for clothing…
6. He
is helmeted with salvation
Is.
59:17
…And a helmet of salvation on His head…
7. He
is cloaked with zeal
Is.
59:17
…And was clad with zeal as a cloak.
