The Voice Of God 7

In 1 Sam. 3:1-10, Samuel had to learn how to hear God's voice. This can be a difficult task for us. We have to know that the Father is on our side - He wants us to hear His voice. He is not trying to trick us - He gives us so many clues to hearing His voice:

Jn. 10:1-5

1"Most assuredly, I say to you, he who does not enter the sheepfold by the door, but climbs up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.2But he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.3To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear his voice; and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.4And when he brings out his own sheep, he goes before them; and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice.5Yet they will by no means follow a stranger, but will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers."

When we hear His voice we will follow Him. Notice how important His voice is for  those of who are followers of Christ.

You know you are hearing the voice of God when you hear these things:

•   Instruction in righteousness, 2 Tim. 3:16)


•   Correction in righteousness, (2 Tim. 3:16, Prov. 3:11-12)


•   Causes you to profit in Christ, (2 Tim. 3:16, Jn. 15:16)


•   Brings to your remembrance the Word of God, (Jn. 14:26)


•   Guides you into Truth, (Jn. 16:13)


•   Exhorts you, (Jude 3, Rom. 12:1)


•   Comforts you, (Jn. 14:16, Ps. 23:4)


•   Rebukes and reproves you, (Titus 1:13, 2 Tim. 4:2) 


•   Convicts you of sin, (Rom. 6:1-23)


•   Leads you to salvation, (Rom. 10:9-10, 2 Tim. 3:15)


•   Assures you of the Father's love toward you, (1 Jn. 3:1, Jer. 31:3)


•   Admonishes and warns you, (Eph. 6:4, Acts 21:4,10-14)


•   Edifies you, (Eph. 4:12)


•   Increases our faith, (Rom. 10:17)


•   Cause you to triumph in life through Christ, (2 Cor. 2:14)
