Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to
God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name. (NKJV)
Through Him therefore let us constantly and at all times offer up to God
a sacrifice of praise, which is the fruit of lips that thankfully acknowledge
and confess and glorify His name (Amp.).
v
Praise is born
in Him. (Through Him)
Praise begins with God’s
greatness. He is our beginning point for praise.
v
Praise needs
to come from us constantly and at all times. (continually)
Through good days and bad –
praise must be our default position as worshipers.
v
Praise is
directed to God. (offer the sacrifice of
praise to God)
The Lord is the sole object
of our devotion.
v
Praise is a
sacrifice. (the sacrifice of praise)
All sacrifices require death
of some sort – the same applies to praise. In order to bring appropriate praise
to the Lord we have to take the focus off self and allow our view of God to be
magnified.
v Praise involves our lips. (our lips)
It is difficult to praise Him without some form of
outward or vocal expression.
v
Praise is like
fruit. (the fruit of our lips)
Just like regular fruit,
praise has purpose, it grows, nourishes, and is capable of reproducing itself.
v
Praise
includes giving thanks and glory to God. (giving
thanks)
Ps. 100:4 instructs us to enter His gates with thanksgiving. When
we thank the Lord, we move closer to Him and have access to His courts. Thanksgiving
propels us on the journey of worship.
v
Praise is
preoccupied with His name. (to His name)
In Ex. 34:5-7 the Lord came
before Moses and spoke His name. His name is not like any other name, as He
dwells in His name and His wonders are revealed. When we praise His name, we
open ourselves to revelation.
Ps. 148:13 Let them all praise the name of the LORD.
For his name is very great; his glory towers over the earth and heaven! (NLT)
