Witnesses from Masih's village said they saw the local Imam, Khalid Jadoon Chishti plant pages of the Qur'an in Misih's bag, which already contained burned papers that she was taking to the trash. Now Chishti has been charged with the same crime as Masih: desecrating the Qu'ran.
It seems that the Imam was attempting to stir up a case against Christians, and evict them from the Islamabad community of Mehrabadi. Many Christians were forced to flee the area after Rimsha was arrested.
Today's ruling has given her family hope that there will be an eventual acquittal in the case.
